SANT PAU SCHOOL

Sant Pau school is located in the village of Sant Pol de Mar which is one hour from Bacelona and belongs to the Maresme administrative district of Barcelona province.

The school was built two years ago and currently it has 470 pupils and 45 teachers. There is one canteen with a capacity for 120 people. We have one gym and four playgrounds: one with a sand surface which is for running and playing, one quiet where you can speak, another one is a soccer field and the last one for kindergarten children.

We love nature and we encourage actions for environment and that is why the school won “green school” award.

BASIC INFORMATION

Sant Pol is a little village on the Mediterranean coast,

which is one hour from Bacelona and belongs to the Maresme administrative district of Barcelona province.

At the moment has 5195 inhabitants and its surface area is 7’49 Km ^{2. In the west it border on Calella de la Costa, in the east on Canet de Mar, in the north on the Montnegre mountains and in south on the Mediterranean sea.}

HISTORY

Sant Pol de Mar formally did not exist. In fact People living in Sant Cebrià de Vallalta, later they went down to the coast to fish and they finally settled in Sant Pol de Mar.

Some of the most important buildings are:

- The house of “Can Planiol”.

- Sant Pau’s chapel.

- Sant Jaume’s church.

- The schools in Santa Clara street.

WELL-KNOWN PEOPLE

- Carme Ruscalleda: Famous chef.

- Lluis Carreras: soccer player.

- Perejaume: A painter.

- Modest Fuster: Founder of “Vichy Catalán”.

- Josep Maria Tarrides: Musician.

- Joan Coromines: Catalan philologist who wrote both Catalan and Spanish dictionaries.

- Ignasi Masmorell: Modernist architect who built “Plaza de Toros las Arenas” and “Can Busquets” in Sant Pol de Mar.
